Noom · UGC Testimonial · Autopilot Workflow Test · 9:16 Vertical

Noom didn't commission this video. It was a one-day challenge at Playad: create a UGC testimonial for Noom — the weight-management app — entirely inside the Autopilot pipeline. No image editor, no video editor, no manual fixes. The point wasn't the video. The point was finding out how far the pipeline goes when nobody touches it.

01. Experimental Framework

The Rules of the Test

Everything had to happen inside Autopilot: the images, the video generation, the assembly — all driven by chat, the way a client team would actually use it. The creative reference was Noom's own Instagram: real-user tone, testimonial structure, wellness messaging. Three versions came out the same day.

Three Pipeline Constraints

Strict Protocol
  • 01

    Chat-Driven Workflow

Prompts, image generation, and assembly orchestrated entirely through conversational chat.

  • 02

    Zero External Software

No manual retouching, timeline editing, or post-production software.

  • 03

    Instagram Reference

Modeled after real-user testimonials and wellness messaging on Noom's Instagram.

02. Human Directing via AI

Directed by Chat

The first two versions are me directing through conversation: brainstorming with the AI chat, rejecting takes, pushing on details — still zero manual editing, but a human making every creative call. The Long Version is the full testimonial. The Short Version is the same story, tightened for the feed.

Long Version
DIRECTED BY CHAT
Human-Directed • Full Cut

Long Version

Full testimonial narrative capturing the comprehensive personal health journey.

Short Version
DIRECTED BY CHAT
Human-Directed • Snackable Cut

Short Version

The same testimonial story tightened and paced for rapid social feed retention.

Zero-Touch Mode
ZERO-TOUCH CONTROL
Autonomous Pipeline Cut

Zero-Touch Mode

Autonomous pipeline run confirming that directing is what makes a creative compelling.

03. The Control Experiment

Zero-Touch Mode

The third version is the control experiment. I fed it the brief, then only pressed confirm, asking for a redo when something was visibly wrong. It still produced a complete video — and it was clearly the weakest of the three. That is the honest result of the test: the pipeline can finish a video on its own, but the directing is what makes it good. Autopilot is the engine. It still needs a driver.

"The pipeline can finish a video on its own. The directing is what makes it good."
